Creating a Sustainable Future

Consumer demand for seafood is now more than the supply. Presently acquaculture makes up more than half of the world supply of seafood and by 2013, aquaculture is projected to surpass wild harvest in production and supply. Tilapia has grown in popularity, consumers have purchased four times as much tilapia today than six years ago.

Many consumers are confused as to what is farmed fish and if it’s healthy and safe for their families. The answer is that farmed fish is very healthy for you, depending on who’s farming it.

Aquafarming is the cultivation of plants or animals such as fish, shellfish and seaweed, in natural or controlled marine or freshwater environments. The Regal Tilapia aquafarms adhere to strict standards to ensure the aquaculture process is safe and provides consumers with the freshest and healthiest fish they can buy. We are located in Indonesia, Honduras and now in Mexico. We strongly believe in involving the community by hiring local workers and investing in the community. Because we have been in this business for over 20 years and are the world’s number one producer of Tilapia, we have established many of the important safety standards all aquafarms should follow. Consumers are wise to be careful in choosing the source of their fish since all aquafarms do not follow these stringent standards:

  • Regal’s farms are in fresh clean moving water, not in ponds, ensuring that there are not high pollutants that can affect the fish.
  • Regal’s Tilapa are contained in cages to control exactly what they eat, the highest quality feed, which affects the taste of your tilapia.
  • Regal is HACCP certified by the Food and Drug Administration for seafood safety.
  • Regal does not use preservatives, antibiotics, or growth hormones.
  • Regal’s Tilapia has less mercury than any other fish or seafood.
  • Regal’s fish are harvested in such a way to allow you the freshest tilapia possible.
  • Regal owns and manages the entire aquafarming process, which ensures accountability and traceability.
